Stepping Stones in Stainforth

This was quite a tricky crossing. There was quite a big gap between the two stones in the middle of the river (only a stream really). To get Orla across, I had to get into the river and pass her over to Iain. As I said, it was only a shallow stream really so it wasn't dangerous, but I couldn't have jumped across carrying Orla.

We were on a walk down from Wray's Barn to Stainforth, stopping off at stunning waterfall on the way (can't remember the name of it!). I had Orla on my shoulders for quite a bit and of course it was going to be much harder with her on my shoulders on the way back up. But she managed to climb a good part of it, thanks to Anne getting her to count the steps up through the woods.

Rob and Tom arrived in the evening. It had been a bit of a fluke that they happened to be in the area (Rob rarely gets out of London) and it was good to have extra guests for the Saturday night. Matthew also turned up much later on. He had not brought directions and it took him 2 hours to find the place!

We had pork belly for dinner with roast potatoes and steamed kale. Anne had made a rhubarb sauce to go with the pork - very nice.

Here's Orla's blip for today.
