Flowers for Me

When my five-year old son still wants to hold my hand on the walk home from school,
When my four-year old daughter opens her eyes at 6 am and tumbles into to bed with us & begins her 14 hour talk-a-thon,
When my son inhales his dinner and asks for a second helping of my vegetarian chili,
When my daughter reprimands her father for using the wrong mustard on her kindy sandwhich she half ate earlier in the day,
When both kids conspire to creep into the neighbors yard and pick a bouquet of flowers for me,
When my daughter sitting with 30 other kids at kindy, turns away searching frantically for me, locks eyes with me, and yells from across the room, "I love you Mom!",
When my son and I have a 45-minute discussion about dinosaurs, why possums need to play dead, and the latest book he read,
When my daughter swims a lap in the freezing cold lake and comes running up the beach yelling," Whew! I'm EXHAUSTED!"

This is when I know it's been another fine day.
