St Consns Kirk
On our way to Loch Melfort on the West Coast of Scotland, we stopped at this church overlooking Loch Awe. . Amazing architecture and awesome interior. It was built by Douglas Campbell to save his mother from a long journey to the church at Dalmally. It was started in 1881 and finished in1886. However Douglas was not happy with the minimalist building and planned for an extension. This was started in 1907 but suspended during the first World War. Douglas died in 1914 and his sister carried on with the plans until her death in 1927. The work was eventually completed by the trustees. The result is a very impressive mixture of architectural styles. Well worth a visit.
