Horizon

Got my camera all the way to the beach to discover that I had, again, left the battery at home.

This cheeky snap was taken on my phone.

This fish is rare
To catch it is fortunate.
Look out for it as you sail,
you might glimpse a sparkle beneath the waves.

This fish has been taken from the sea many times before.
Wriggling to escape the tight grip of hands,
yet sometimes thrown back to the water with no care.

With a crack the water meets its body
and with a gasp, finds brief relief as the ocean envelopes it.

Then the huge loneliness of the water engulfs it,
and swimming aimlessly, it waits to be caught again.

This fish is rare
and once out of your sight,
you'll have to dive to the depths of the ocean
if you hope to discover it again.

Just a thing I wrote. Things I was thinking as I sat on the beach.
