Bracondale Awakens ......

When our department was based at County Hall annexe, Bracondale wood was but a stone's throw away , straight out the door and a short distance. Now we're in the bowels of County Hall itself, it's quite a trek - which of course means that when I go there I have to spend more time getting there and less time actually in the wood - grrrr! So I've been going there less often recently, spending more time in the grassed area at the front.
Today I took a 3/4 hour lunch break so I could go into the wood and take more time about things - my first visit for about 2 weeks. I was delighted to find that, in the intervening period, so much has sprung to life there - Wood Anemones and Lesser Celandine in bloom, the bluebells now coming into flower (which reminds me - with Easter around the corner, I must ring Foxley to see if their renowned bluebells are in full flow yet, no way do I want to miss out on them!). But for me the star was this gorgeous lavender-pink Corydalis, each tiny tubular bloom edged with mauve - I love Corydalis, their delicate foliage and flowers. I have masses of the common yellow variety in my garden. And I've tried a couple of times in vain to get the stunning blue variety to take, but to no avail :((
Since purple and shades of it is my fave colour, I wonder if this variety would succeed? Hmmm. Worth a try methinks ......

See it's real beauty viewed LARGE!

Having secured my blip for the first time in ages I visited my dear Ent pals (which I've mentioned a few times previously, and blipped last year), and grabbed 5 minutes seated between their sinuous roots just listening to the sounds of the wood. I've missed doing that recently ...
