Spreading the Muck!
Today, a big turnout from my department at work went on our Volunteering Day to Corbenic, near Dunkeld, which is a fantastic residential home in the country for mentally disabled adults. The centre is set in a stunning location in the Perthshire hills with a farm, woodwork shop, bakery, horses, cows, sheep and loads of geese. Our jobs were split into 2. One group had to collect the fallen branches and wood and pile then into a big line ready for the chipper machine to shred the wood. My group (who got the raw deal) had to spread muck over the green areas in the field in order for it to become lush in a few months time for the cows to graze. The pile was not smelly (well not much) as it had been lying getting rich for 3 years. Archie, the chargehand for the fields informed me that I may find a decomposed hen that had died and he had flung it on the heap! (We didn't find it). So tonight I am exhausted with every muscle aching. But most of us agreed that we would rather have been out here working in the open in the lovely sunshine than working in the office.
