Like father like son.
My father gave me the love for a good pencil!
He always preferred the green marbled HB Venus-Berol, and when I can get one, it is my pencil of choice. I write remembering.
But for music, I have a new love; my Palomino Blackwing. It is gorgeous to write with; dark, soft lead, long-lasting point, and a square ended, effective rubber. Apparently it is the pencil of choice for many composers, and chief amongst them being Sondheim. And now they are available again, albeit it was cheaper to get the from the States than the UK!
So, now the holiday has begun, I can give some time to finishing off the flute & piano piece that I promised a friend to complete.
Strange how you need to get the right pencil to do a task. Roald Dahl had his Dixon Ticonderoga, Steinbeck had a black Calculator stolen from Fox Films and a Mongol 2 3/8 F, Ernest Hemingway preferred cedar pencils.
No excuse now, though I'm sure I can find one if I try. Only problem is- it doesn't guarantee good music. What I need now is a coffee shop without children, a radio or gossips.
It's not looking good, is it?
