Tiny Town
I pulled off the expressway about 40 miles from my house in search of buffalo. The owner of Domino Farms (Dominos Pizza) used to keep a small herd. Not a bison to be found. That was too bad. I was going to scale the fence, and have Lisa take my picture while I wrangled it to the earth. Then I was going to straddle the beast as he rose, and ride him for all he was worth. Would have been a glourious blip. Too bad.
Instead of that rip-snorting action...I get this tiny town that is part of a childrens petting farm. Sure it's cute...but it's nowhere close to rip-snorting. It's probably not even blip-snorting!
Just a couple of travel observations. In Florida, a citrus center advertised GATOR HEADS on one line, and WIND CHIMES on the next line. We stopped in. "Can I help you sir?" "Yes, you can. sonny. I'd like to see that wind chime made out of gator heads. I'm a-thinkin the missus would really like one of those!" "We have gator heads and we have wind chimes...but not together." I stormed away while grumbling. "IF YOU'RE NOT GOING TO HAVE GATOR HEAD WIND CHIMES!!!...DON"T ADVERTISE THEM!!!"
In Georgia...the hot breakfast included instant grits. I tried to be as polite as possible...just because I was in the South. "Miss Hazel...what am I supposed to do with these?" "Just slap a little butter on them. Personally...I like mine with a little bacon grease." "That sounds yummy...Miss Hazel...get me some of that bacon grease." "I don't have any here...only at home." I stormed away with my Belgian waffle while grumbling..."HOW AM I SUPPOSED TO HAVE SOUTHERN GRITS IF YOU DON'T SUPPLY THE ANIMAL FAT?"
Gas is expensive. The lowest we saw was $3.76, and the high was $4.15...right here in the not-so-great state of Michigan. Makes me want to spit. I'd call them a bunch of SHI-STERS if I knew how to spell it.
Hard to go from a daily high of 80 in Florida to a high of 39 today. Plus, it rained and snowed...making the 39 seem even colder.
Merrick (grandson) is spending the night while his parents go watch the Red Wings. Good to see the little man after 6 weeks. He had a great time climbing on all the boxes and suitcases we brought home. You're on constant watch with that boy.
