Guillemots on Marwick Head
Uria aalge. I probably won't be back up at Marwick for a while because, over the winter, I've been there a lot watching the Iceland and glaucous gulls that turned up in unusually high numbers.
The cliffs had thousands of guillemots on them, plus fulmars and kittiwakes. The puffins haven't appeared yet though there are probably a few 'early birds'. The individuals with the white eye-liner are called 'bridled' type and are thought to be from further north than the others.
