Violet Replacement

Tonight was the night I finally got to see Grouper live, part of the reason for our current trip to Nottingham. She didn't disappoint, her set was a beautifully constructed piece of ambience. It drifted and droned, but was underpinned by a brooding melancholy. The folks who'd taken advantage of the scatter cushions were in prime position to relax into the laid back mood. The finish of the set was like coming out of a deep meditation and walking out in to the hubub of a Saturday night was a stark contrast.
