New Neighbors

The last neighborhood tree planting and it rained and rained and then stopped. One of the perks of being the crew leader is that you can give orders and they obey, except for children. So I got them to stand by the three trees we planted at Todd's house, a retired postal service worker to take this picture. What you can't see is the gigantic puddle in the unpaved alley, so big it is home to a pair of ducks.

I'm finding that being unemployed is a great opener to conversation. Everyone has been there and has their own story. And now I have new neighbors, albeit across the city, and they have new trees and the sun is SHINING. Briefly.
