Petitioning the Parliament
A rare appearance in my own blip but this is a good example of how the Parliament can sometimes work across boundaries.
This afternoon the A83 campaign presented a large scale petition from Argyll to the Convener of the Parliament's petitions Committee, David Stewart who is a Labour list MSP from the Highlands. As Argyll's constituency MSP I was happy to support the petitioners , just as I and the local SNP have supported the community who want their voice heard on this important matter and are supporting - and in Government are implementing - the need for investment in this route.
The leading lights of the petition have been the three "Argyll First" councillors - two independents and a Tory ( pictured here - Cllrs Kelly, MacAlpine and Philand) .
All of us therefore keen on real participatory democracy which Scotland is trying to deliver. To be fair , too, Argyll resident and Highland list Tory MSP Jamie McGrigor wanted to be with us but is in quarantine as his children have whooping cough! .
