horns of wilmington's cow

Oh I do like to be beside the seaside...

Paddling in the Atlantic is cold work, let me tell you. But there's a perverse pleasure in freezing your feet off before drying off and warming up back in walking boots. And this sums up a glorious sunny day in the Scottish Isles. Beautiful light; sunglasses required; as well as the windproof jacket to stifle the gale...

This was at Bostadh on Great Berneray (after braving killer sheep). Mel managing the short walk down to the beach and along the shore. En route we got Golden Eagles 4 and 5 of the trip, before specifically searching them out by heading to the new Harris Golden Eagle Hide. Things is it's a half hour walk down a rough track, which is a little beyond an 8 week healed broke leg. We've tucked away the idea for later in the week.

I managed a walk round the headland across from the cottage when we got back, while Mel got her leg up and read. Pipits, rabbits, razorbills, ringed plovers. Nice wee wander in the sun with some stunning blue water views.
