Chloe and the Bishop.
Chloe is easy enough to spot, but because she is in the shade and the Bishop in bright sunlight (bright sunlight!) you might miss him. Ignore the piece of rock in Chloe's mouth and follow a line up from her head. Above a bush you should just make out a white rock on the edge of the scree. This is the Bishop of Barf.
The story is that a gentleman was passing through Keswick on his way to cross the sea to become a bishop in Ireland. For some reason best known to himself he made a bet that he could ride a pony up the steep face of Barf. He couldn't and was killed. The rock is where he fell (or was turned to stone perhaps?)
The stone is always kept painted white and is very noticable from the A66. The painting is done by the Keswick Mountain Rescue Team.
However, no bishop was harmed in the creation of this story. One did pass through Keswick, I believe, but he arrived safely in Ireland...perhaps he did make the boast but thought better of it the morning after!
