Dona Barca

Approximately a year after our first vist we returned to Dona Barca. This time it was mackerel and a shellfish rice instead of the famous sardines. Having eat like kings we then went to the 'Flavours of the Algarve' food festival, so being full was probably a good idea.

At the food festival I bought 3 bottles of wine within the first 5 minutes and then had to restrain myself a little. Lots of ham, sausage and black pudding was in the offing but we have a fairly full freezer and fridge back at the apartment so I stuck with the wine. Though the suckling pig did grab our attention, may need to revisit that tomorrow.

It was also revealed to us today that the Spanish version of Spring Break is being held in our hotel for the next 5 days and around 1000 students turned up and proceeded to run riot. We decided to slink out across the road to a bar we spotted with wifi and football on the TV in the hope that it might be somewhere we could watch tomorrow's big game against Liverpool. In a stroke of pure luck the star player from the local football team was in playing cards and he gave us 2 tickets for the Portimanense game tomorrow, which we were planning on paying 10 euros for anyway. And the internet worked, was free and the the best pool table I've seen in many a filled the left hand side of the small bar. Just as we were about to leave the rain came again, forcing us to stay for another Caneca and helping us avoid the rampant teenagers for a wee while longer.

Dinner consisted of the leftovers of the previous two days with some more prawns, simple stuff as we were both fair knackered.

The teenagers were truly rampant and we could hear their shouts, screams and footsteps till way into the early hours, what fresh hell will the next 4 days bring?
