UWILD
We had quite a rough passage to Lerwick this morning. Thanks to 'Hanna'. The reason that we had to go to Lerwick is twofold; we had to do an UWILD survey and we have to load two twenty foot containers packed with fresh provisions for the Hermod. UWILD means Underwater Inspection In lieu of Drydocking. All ships are insured of course, and there is only one thing insurance companies hate: paying money back to their customers. So they want to inspect the ships they insure on a regular basis. If you're due for your drydock inspection and you can not make it in time, they want an UWILD. And that's what they got today. Performed by professional divers Dave and Emma as you can see on this picture. The helmet Dave is holding is called a Kirby Morgan Super Lite. A standard for all professional divers.
