Grandes eaux musicales (Versailles)
Today was the first day of the season for the Grandes eaux musicales at Versailles... the fountains come back on for a few hours per day on week-ends and music that would have been heard at Louis XIV's court is played throughout the gardens. We didn't get tickets to the chateau ahead of time and the line-up to get in was the longest I've ever seen (in 4 visits to Versailles so far, since October - I really should have got the annual pass!). We decided to skip the chateau as a result and just saw the gardens.
We had a picnic lunch in the Bosquet de l'Encelade (subject of an earlier blip), rented a golf cart for an hour, had a lovely drink and dessert in the Café La Flotille and then more walking to see the fountains. This one is in the Bosquet des trois fontaines, with Ch and M trying to spot fish.
