Greengates

1. We sleep off the fish supper and fizz combo and check out of the baytree - we would have stayed but they are full. We leave the lovely little studio behind, pack up and scoot round the corner to Greengates.

2. Run by Pauline and Colin, this is the former home of artsit Jessie King. The house is one of the oldest in the town - 1754 - and is packed with treats. Every room is bursting with interesting trinkets and curios. Our rooms are ace - a big blue double, a massive bathroom and a very pink morning room with chesterfields and a dragon fire.

3. You think the builing is good? You want to see the garden. Down this close (where a wee colony of artists used to live) there lies a treasure trove of garden treats. There were too many pictures to choose from - the champagne weavers, the wish tree, the piano, the shed, the boat and jetty, the skeleton.

4. We take a trip to Cumbria and land in Maryport for an icecream. Dinner in a place where the ego of the chef may be bigger that the winelist and pudding from the creamcake aisle of the co.

5. We retire to our rooms and watch Black Cat White Cat. One of te oddest and best films I have seen in quite some time.
