The Watery Lane Residence

Great day - cloudless skies. Started by spotting the hedge-skimming buzzards Bertie & Beatrice in the top field - they're nesting in one of Tom's hedge trees. Building work continued apace on the sledge 'Netty' (outdoor lav for us poor non-Northerners - though I don't know the dialectal boundary lines).
Helped greatly when more volunteers arrived; Natasha & Simon + associated wagging doggages. After an al fresco lunch we set to once again and with a combination of chainsaw, flip flops, noggins and tea - the ridge poles, first window and walls went up.
Serious solid build out of beautiful planking - the real wood melding immediately with the environment in a way difficult to conceive of many other materials.
We downed tools before sunset and stumbled round a quarry (meme sitting this one out obviously) via muddy dogs, badger skeleton and a pair of inquisitive heifers - returning down nearby watery lane - with the worrying waning water level (dropped 4' already this year).
Finally the hero of the piece - one of the Watery Lane Residents. This ancient path/spring homes a diverse host of plants & creatures - at the moment, the primroses takes top flora with bluebells threatening. Fauna being more mobile generally boycotted the census leaving only trails, holes & occasional signs - bar two dozy toads. I realise that the picture shows only one - the second was a more mustard version. Happily they had convinced themselves that they were rooted to the spot - enabling a shot at close range for this minimally skilled snapper.
