General Assembly Hall
I was in town today, something I avoid just now as it is Tramworks central with both ends of Princess street disrupted. Anyway A bit of a "History" shot (not sue how much of it is true though!). To the back the building with the big spire is the General Assembly Hall of the Church of Scotland designed by David Bryce\William Henry Playfair. The Hall however does not have a spire it has "borrowed" the spire from the Tron Kirk Tolbooth St. John's behnd it!
The statue of Queen Victoria was sculpted by Sir John Steell and is high on the roof of the Royal Scottish Academy Building. Apparently Queen Victoria did not like the statue and it was placed somewhere it could not easily be seen!
Thanks to Calder for supplying me with the correct spire name (and other info in the comments).
