Looking forward

After concluding the business of the day, we headed to the Nature Reserve to see if the woodpecker was still about. Coincidentally, there was a programme on the radio today all about the Lesser Spotted Woodpecker - how rare it is, reasons for the decline etc. We realised just how lucky we are to have one on our doorstep, and he didn't disappoint, spending a good 20 minutes drilling away in 'his' tree. As we arrived, he had just had a row with another woodpecker, we think, probably one of his Greater cousins.
But this is my favourite image of the day. Rather apt.
