Chilly Day

Sleety showers first thing, but the forecast was for snow, so Ollie and I headed out early for our cliff top walk. It was so raw and icy but, if you could get out of the biting wind, there was actually some heat in the sun.

Lots of fulmars starting to nest on the cliff ledges, and they were very curious about Ollie and I. It's incredible how close they , you really could reach out and touch them as they circle and swoop and soar in the thermals at the cliff edge.

In the distance you can see the village of St Mary's, over the Churchill Barriers.

Snow showers all day, but it never lay, just melted as it hit the ground. Between the showers the sun shone and the sky was blue - I even managed to get some washing dried on the line! Because of the snow further south, the mail plane didn't get in this morning so there was only local post for Himself to deliver. That meant that he was home, finished, by lunch time, which in turn meant he started on putting the undercoat on the woodwork in the the sitting room. What a hero!
