Camus Ban, Penifiler and The Black Cuillin Hills

A photograph taken from Ben Chrachaig. Camus Ban means the White Bay or Beach; Penifiler is pronounced 'Penifeeler' and is where we lived when we first moved to Skye.

The Cuillin Hills are divided into the black range and the red. The rock types are different and so the appearance is quite different. The Black hills are the ones that so many visitors come to for the climbing. They are the youngest hills in Europe.

Though not extremely high by european standards one still has to start at virtually sea level when climbing them making the climb almost as arduous.

Camus Ban is the beach myself and my family used for many years since it was the nearest sandy beach; a great place to both play and to swim.
