Red Beetroot Eggs
One of my blogging friends, Robin, posted a recipe recently for what she called Red Beet Eggs.
Being Australian, I've altered the recipe name slightly as we call beets, beetroot. So depending on what part of the world you come from, you can call them either!
The basic idea is to soak the hard boiled eggs in a beetroot mixture for a few days, allowing the red colour to penetrate the layers of the eggs, giving them a reddish tinge and adding extra flavour from the additives.
I'll follow up this blip in a couple of days, after the eggs have been through their pickling process, to show the colour inside the eggs.
Well, it is coming up to the Easter weekend, so what better time of year to have fun with eggs. :)
