Honest Toil

Lunchtime treat today watching the logging horses at work. I took lots of pictures but this one is my favourite. Such genuine, loyal beasts willingly giving their all. What surprised me most is how nimble and surefooted they are for such big animals, picking their steps between the stored logs to land their next load. Very responsive too to their handlers instructions. Altogether a wonderful experience, I'm glad I made the effort to see them at work.

At the other end of the Hermitage, the bridge builders are progressing very quickly, with stone base walls being built on the north side, and level groundwork on the south side of the wooden bridge. Shaping up to be a very neat job, just not sure how natural it will look?
