Liriodendron tulipifera
Tulip-Tree matures well over 100' (30m). Most grow to a stately 150'. They bloom in Spring a beautiful tuliplike flower. Since the trees are so erect and tall, most people don't realize they have flowers. This photo was taken from the fourth floor lobby where one can just see the lower branches of the tree. Several were protected and saved when these buildings were constructed in 1973. At that time the trees topped at 4th and 5th floors. They've spent more than half of their 45 or 50 years standing next to these buildings. I would not want to be here when someone decides it is time to rebuild this high priced real estate.
Ramblings from a soon (I hope) to be retired Landscape Architect.
