Black dress day

I was a bit lacking in blip inspiration today.

Walked into the hall and saw this charming scene.

Where the christmas hat comes from baffles me.

The black high heels are from the funeral of my friends mom that we attended today.

I first met her about 15 years ago. She had a gentle soul and was a kind and caring lady. We went to numerous parties at her house. The one I remember fondly was for the Queens last jubilee. I was pregnant at the time and I did not know so stood drinking spirits of some description in the kitchen whilst watching Paul McCartney sing on a little portable.

She was a huge Elvis fan and loved her family dearly. When I first passed my driving test I drove to her house thinking her daughter my friend would be in. As it was she was out so I had a cup of tea with her and her husband.

I went to see her in an Am Dram play called Godspell. It was brilliant and me and her other daughter joined the group. We then did the Pajama Game. I was Babe and my friend was the other main character. We had an amazing week! She made me sandwiches all week as I was coming straight from work.

All in all they were happy days.

Her one daughter then split up with my brother in law and it all went a bit awry.

Anyway me and her other daughter through hard work and determination managed to salvage what was a strained friendship and we joined another am dram group and now sing in the barbershop chorus together.

A lot of the ladies of the chorus gave up their free time to come and sing at the funeral today and then I sang Amazing Grace acapella.

The song sang by the Barbershop chorus was an Elvis one and I sang the Elvis lyrics to Amazing Grace.

I can hand on heart say that I think it was one of the best vocal performances I have ever done solo. It was an honour to sing there and it was a fitting way for me to offer my thanks to a woman who was rather influential in putting me on this road to where I am now.

Rest in Peace Pam.
