an itching in my thumbs

sorting

new task today at BRIT - sorting. this is organizing the already mounted specimens into the order they need to be in for filing in the herbarium - family, genus, geographical region, species, state, county. more intensive mental work but rather enjoyable and got to see a wide variety of specimens from all over and many that were over 100 years old.

---

sam kept me company the first half of the morning as he was double checking some of the specimens that had just come in from the national herbarium in DC on a trade. this was one of them and a very fascinating one at that. check out the helix-shaped fruit!

sam wanted this to be my blip today and i do feel it's a pretty cool one - next week i think he might have to give in to a portrait. we'll see.

----

work after and i was exhausted - the week's catching up to me, thank goodness tomorrow is a government holiday here and that means some much-needed rest. i am going to see the butterflies in the garden as well so no doubt it will yield good blips.

life is pretty great lately; i only have good feelings to report.
