South Island Robin

I was headed out the door to Christchurch this morning when my cousin arrived up from Hokitika with a truck load of firewood for me - a much appreciated gift. He drove up, unloaded and stacked the wood, had a coffee and then headed the 2 and a half hours home again - why? His answer was, 'What else do you do on Easter Friday?"

Of course I'm in total agreement! The wood is wonderful. Thanks Gary.

It meant I got away a little late but it was totally worth it.

I stopped at Springs for a relief visit but the queue for the loos was about 30 people long so I flagged that, got back in the car and drove up the road to Kiwilizzie's robin spotting spot. There is a toilet at the picnic area there and it didn't have a queue. Ahhhh.

I walked back to the car and this little fellow screeched and carried on, demanding my attention. So, of course, out came the camera.

I love these guys, they are so cheeky! This wee chap kept getting so close that I was having to back off to get him in the frame. At one point he was standing between my legs and I was too scared to move in case I stepped on him.

Liz, in case you stop on your way down later in the weekend, he was on the tree right beside the dentrance gate bit.
