Bin 38

Thats how many 250kg bins of avos I've picked in the last couple of weeks which would be less than 2/3 rds of what was out there. Biggest crop ever on this little block. And the smallest return ever. The export market for organic avos was crap, the exporter called me before xmas and said if I can sell them elsewhere that would be a good idea. Local market was crap. With lots of fruit about prices were miserable. So this lot is all going to the oil plant before it closes for the season. Which means a third to a fifth the price you might normally get.

As Joel Salatin says in his book "This aint Normal Folks" No one ever starved from lack of production, they starved from lack of distribution.

So the obvious question has been running through my mind whilst picking this fruit , do I put more time , effort and money into making this work? Or what?
