Easter Bunnies
Just waiting to go pick Eli up from the station and thinking about all the Easters we had when the children were small.She will be the only one to return to the fold this year but we are thinking of everyone else and wishing them a Blessed Easter.
No matter what the weather,when the children were young,we would pack up a picnic and head off for a family day out, sometimes up onto the moors to roll Easter eggs which had been handpainted the previous day. As often as not,the eggs were so knocked about after being rolled down a steep bank several times,they were totally inedible but the local sheep were always willing to oblige.
Other years, we would roll their eggs on a little hillock just outside gran and grandpa's caravan in the Borders, under the shade of a giant flowering cherry tree. Many of the daffodils and wild primroses scattered around, ended up being disturbed by these rolling orbs and tiny feet.Little wild rabbits would pop their heads up to see what all the hilarity was about.These were fun times.
Hubby and I also ran a twins club for many years and we would organise an Easter egg hunt in the local park where everyone was welcome.We would have races ,donkey rides and competitions all day long.
One year, we ventured abroad as a family, for an early Spring break and were fortunate enough to catch a week of Easter celebrations in Nerja,Costa del Sol.This was a great learning curve for the children and brought home the true meaning of Easter to us all.So much love went in to the preparation of the floats with floral arrangements in their multitudes.
I have always wanted to attend a Passion play and it seems that there are many to choose from these days.Only last night on the T.V. they were showing a variety of venues, with staging going from biblical costuming to being brought right up to date ,with thugs carrying crowbars and guys in hoodies.Everyone to their own I suppose.Maybe next year.
How I miss these family times.
The tulips in the garden
Are wearing yellow hats;
The pussywillows by the brook
Have fur like any cats'.
The bee is honey hunting;
The birds?their chirp is gay;
And all the world is singing,
"Oh, happy Easter Day!"
Have a Wonderful Easter everyone.
