Psychic Night

I predict that it's Psychic Night at my Local on Monday. I used to go to this pub fairly regularly. The landlady was a classic Northern Landlady - like something out of Coronation Street. She was ex-showbiz, and the place was decorated with signed photos of people like Danny La Rue. Bizarre, but entertaining!

Speaking of psychics, I learned yesterday that Alan Turing consulted a fortune-teller shortly before he died (exhibition at the Manchester Museum). It scared him, though he wouldn't say what she said. I can't believe that he would have believed in anything like that, but he was fascinated by patterns, so maybe it was something to do with that.

Anyway, I don't believe in any of this stuff - though I did have a wart charmed(?) off by a gypsy when I was a kid, so hmmmm...
