Road Construction

I spent the late afternoon at the barn with a friend who's beloved horse foundered for a second time. There is no clear reason why this happened and today the vet took blood to test for thyroid problems and maybe diabetes. Tomorrow the farrier comes to do magic with the shoes to take the pressure off the soles and the coffin bones.

Poor Scout, he also has thrush, a chronic problem for him his whole life. There is no horse owner I know more dedicated to her horse's health and well-being than Kris.

If anyone can pull him out of this it will be her, by unwavering care and follow-up on the treatment recommendations and sheer force of will.

Road construction season has started and my daily commute is a whole new experience and a half hour longer than a week ago. Let's hope for sunny days and a quick completion.
