Welcome Home
It was time to finish my trip in Datong and go back home to Beijing again.
But first I could sleep in a bit and I enjoyed my soft bed and my hotel room for one last time. I left at 11.30. Getting more deposit back from the hotel then I should. Which I tried to tell them, but they (of course) didn't understand me. I took a taxi to the train, where I would be in for the next six hours.
The Chinese lady that sat next to me in the train tried to have a conversation with me. Of course I didn't really know what she was talking about. At least I understood that she would get off after three stations. She also tried to explain something that had to do with music and a piano I guess, because later on she got the sheet music and I saw her wiggling her fingers like she was playing.
During the second part of the train ride I wrote in my travel journal a bit. Apparently this was really interesting because the three Chinese that were surrounding me were staring at this. Maybe because I am left handed. Or maybe just because I was write diagonal.
Arriving at the train station around 7 o'clock. Beth and Marlene were picking me up to have dinner together. Beth made me this wonderful "Welcome Home' sign with Chinese, Dutch and English on it. She also got me gifts from Hongkong. We had dinner at the Subway, were I got the wrong cookies with my menu which turned out in a whole fuss..
We three also made plans for the rest of the weekends in Beijing and a rough plan for the traveling. Marlene is going to join me probably for two weekends. Beth is trying to join me the whole three weeks minus the last two days. So now we are going to look in to tickets, hotels and stuff like that.
