In the Smithsonian Museum of American Art was this fantastic painting by Chuck Close of former US president, Bill Clinton.

I really like Close preferring the later, post-stroke, work in preference to his super-realist early studies.

Looking at the work in books never does justice to the skill or scale evident in the work which, at over 10 feet high, is overwhelming.

Having blipped the point where Martin Luther King made his speech earlier this week, this painting of a more recent and (some would say) visionary leader is my choice for today.
