Shadows of Provence
This is the farmhouse in St. Martin de Crau that includes our gite (the apartment where we are staying) and several others. Built in traditional Provence style, it and the other large buildings nearby are sheltered by nearly two dozen huge plane trees (I blipped an overhead view when we arrived a week ago). The trees' shadows dominate the foreground, complementing the huge trunk on the right (it's perhaps the largest).
Despite gorgeously clear and seasonable weather, we didn't venture far today--it's Easter weekend, and nearby Arles is celebrating its annual Feria--Feria basically means an elaborate fair, and in Arles it is devoted to bullfighting (I think mostly non-lethal). Raising bulls is one of the main activities of the Camargue region.
I've added this to my shadows series.
