Rhubarb
I'm not sure what these terracotta bells are called but they are used to protect and force young rhubarb. This is in the garden of The Hill House in Helensburgh, designed by Charles Rennie Mackintosh for the publisher Walter Blackie early in the 20th century.
The property is run by the National Trust for Scotland and the interior design is also by Mackintosh and his wife. Unfortunately photography is not allowed inside the house. It was hard to choose from the shots we took in the gardens. I chose this one because I like the colour and shape of the bells and the contrast with the young green shoots. And I love rhubarb!
