fork lightning

..there's been an awful lot of it tonight. the dog is a shivering wreck and M and i are drenched! we were hoping to see the full moon rise over the ocean tonight, but it was so cloudy that nature decided a different spectacle was in order.. huddled underneath the sea cliffs at ben buckler (at the north end of bondi) we were well and truly surrounded by thunder and lightning. one flash of lightning was so close and so bright i really couldnt see anything momentarily and the crack of thunder pulsed through us. exhilarating... and one of those moments when you hope the rock overhang above you doesn't crack...

and so in typical style, i didn't capture any of the lightning while we were out by the ocean, but took my 'best' shot from the shelter of the back garden!

tips on how to shoot lightning would be MUCH appreciated.
