Why did I come in here?

La Savonnerie Sapodouce

In the tiny village of Roquecor in the Tarn & Garonne region of the Midi Pyrenees a very softly spoken lady opened a new shop last year. She is in many ways an artist, her particular medium is soap and oils.

The land is limestone, consequently the water is hard, with the dehydrating effects of strong sun the body needs TLC. If you know where to get it this soap does the TLC for you. I have never used anything quite like it. Crabtree & Evelyn pale into insignificance alongside the scents and softness. The fragrance of Ylang & Cedar for men is an absolute winner.

The soaps are contained in tiny bags, with a label and then finished with a pretty little soap heart all hand made. There is a real feeling of completeness about the product.

Our high streets are redolent of Body Shop and Lush, or whatever, this is atypically Francais and so far removed from the British experience. I don't mean to sound a snob about this, however to me this exemplifies the French way as oppossed to ours. It is understated, classic and totally pleasing to the eye and nose.
