Between the Lines
Between The Lines explores the unity of identities. I was inspired by Islamic culture and the use of its geometrical patterns. The structures of symmetry often embody a spirit that expresses the relationship between unity and multiplicity, yet the over residing theme is one of harmony.
I decided to implement the context of exploring the contrasts of human nature. By looking into the diversity, I also believe there is an element that binds us all, a 'collective unconscious' if you like. Something beyond wonder yet transcends in us all.
I used the contrast between black and white to signify diversity and harmony. The light from within embodies a divine wonder, and the structure allows for several interpretations depending on where you view it. It is only when observed from the front that the composition becomes complete. This archetype for wholeness speaks of the idea of infinity, and the omnipresent center represents the 'possession' we all seek that defines who we are.
