Bird of Prey

Last weekend we had a lot of wind on location. Side effect of that is that you always see a lot of small birds like robins etc. on board. Doves are also a common breed of birds on board ships after storm. They simply lack the power to fly back to the shore into the wind. Every floating object they see is a welcome resting place. I am not sure if the same counts for the birds of prey following the small and tired birds. Are they following their easy prey or had they the same problems with the offshore winds? It seems to me that powerful fliers like falcons and other kinds of predator birds have enough strength to cope with any kind of wind. Anyway, both the Hermod and the Retriever are visited daily by tenths of small birds chased by the much bigger falcons (at least, I think they are falcons). Killing them by great numbers and leaving our decks littered with small feathers. Even an owl was spotted this afternoon but I couldn't catch him with my camera. Lousy picture this one, but anyway; you can clearly see it's a bird.
