The Spirit of the Winds
This rather racy lady adorns the south side of Rosemount Square flats in Aberdeen. The building was started in 1939 but the outbreak of WWII meant that work was halted for the duration and resumed after the war ended.
There was meant to be 3 sculpture panels depicting elements all to familiar to Aberdonians, Aeolos, the Greek custodian of the four winds above, was the Spirit of the Wind, The Spirit of the Rain decorates the east face of the building. The Spirit of the Cold fell to budget constraints, despite being included in the costing, it was cut to save money. I will Blip Spirit of the Rain in the near future as she made a large (12' x 5') impression on me as a young lad growing up .
