Huggles from Orla

We went to Weston Super-mare on the train from Bristol today. It took over half an hour to get there but we had a table to ourselves and Orla played with her animals whilst we had a cup of tea. We felt very nostalgic as we approached the seafront. We had fish and chips outside at a seafront cafe and talked about how strange it seemed that we were here this Easter - if someone had told us last Easter that we'd be in Weston Super-mare this year I wouldn't even have known where that was!

There seemed to be lots to do for kids on the beach and Orla knew what she wanted to do the most - a donkey ride! She also tried the trampolines and a bouncy castle but didn't like them. Then we went to the Grand Pier and experienced the house of fun (don't know what it was reall called) at the end of it containing all sorts of penny arcades, video games and funfair rides. Orla loved it and whilst I could appreciate that because I used to like that sort of thing, Anne and I both felt like we inside a freaky far-out movie set in a distopian future.

We then went for a long walk along the windy promenade and Anne and Orla explored some rock-pools. It was so windy on the way back that Orla specifically requested the rain-block on the buggy (a cheap buggy we bought in Bath yesterday that we couldn't have done without today).

Back in Bristol we went for a drink and Orla's tea at Severn Shed then let Orla have a run about in the square next to @Bristol.

Here is the first photo of today in Flickr.
