The Auld Kirk
It seemed a kind of black and white type of day earlier (sun's out now mind you) so took a walk around the old cemetery to try and snap the best of the damp black stonework around the place.
It's pretty sad the amount of vandalism that's gone on here (I was brought up in the terraced house in the middle left of the shot here and, as well as having our arses tanned at home, we'd more than likely end up with a size ten police boot up our crevice if we were caught playing around in here) what with many of the hundreds of years old stones tipped and others desecrated with spray paint. There was a lot of work done to make the auld kirk itself safe the past few years, after which access to the interior was blocked off to stop it being used as a drinks and drugs den.
There's some other meaty stories surrounding the early days of the church, full of sex and violence, that I might come back to 0n a quiet day, but for now you can have this stitched image overview of the building with it's recently added and poorly spelt welcome message from the local youth. (not any of the three lurking all ghost-like at the back of the auld kirk I hasten to add).
Makes you proud so it does.
