Actually, it was a tense and nerve-wracking game. Northwich scored first; Chester found it hard to respond. The referee, of course, and the linesmen, were variously blind, unable to make a decision, one-sided and half-asleep. The ball would not fall well for the home team; the defence was frustratingly solid.
But then, with Northwich down to 10 men, a cracking shot made it a draw and that was enough. One point was all that was needed. After the final whistle and lap of honour by management and players, even yours truly went onto the pitch.

OK, so it was nearly a disaster. My fault. But in the end, all was well.
