World In Motion
Very busy day today, we went to the Circus! (photos to come).
Little time for a proper write-up for today's post and shame really as I had a great topic to share, which I'm going to have to be fairly concise about now.
Today is the anniversary of the birth of Eadweard J Muybridge, a British photographer who first created the first iconic images of racehorses. He was tasked with the job to find out if galloping horses had all four legs off the ground, as portrayed by various painters. By using 24 cameras, Muybridge in 1872, was able to demonstrate that all four legs of a horse did indeed leave the ground. It paved the way for modern moving images and was ground-breaking.
Had I had the time I would've liked to dedicate today's photo to this event as well as attempt photography with a similar twist - I have some ideas so you may see these materialise later in 365.
For today's picture, however, I have some more (Indian) food to share! :)
Hidden inside these crisp, small spheres (Puri) is a mixture of chickpeas, boiled smashed potato, lots of fresh onion pieces, green chillies, tamarind juice, spices plus a lot of garnishing as you see here. It works like this: A hole is made using a thumb in the puri and a small amount of mixture is filled inside and then either the puri is dipped in the spicy water (Pani) or it's added directly through the hole. It's then placed in the mouth and eaten whole. For me it is one of the best street foods around.
Thanks to my aunt for the delicious food! :)
