The West Wind

The Helm wind blows generally from the North. In blizzard conditions, as on Tuesday, it rages from the North East creating wild drifts and high snow ice sculptures. However it is a (relatively ) short lived wind, a few days at the most. The rest of the time the weather comes from the west and the trees, especially high and isolated ones such as this, grow in its lee. Strange to think of the branches and the twigs growing, being constantly combed through like recalcitrant curls, to make these leaning shapes.
