The Original Burj Khalifa

This truly is the original Burj Khalifa, a watchtower located near the mouth of Dubai Creek to keep an eye on the marine traffic that flowed in and out of Dubai. It was built some time in the 1800s which for this part of the world is quite old and is made of coral harvested from the sea.

Most people will know "Burj Khalifa" as the name of tallest building on the planet, measuring 828m in height. That building was originally called Burj Dubai for the 5 year period of its construction. I noticed that they have changed the name of the little watchtower on the Creek to Shindagha Watchtower. Oh well... that's life... I liked the original names of both the towers!
