Clearly Meandering

This photo represents the antithesis of Easter excesses!

Statues were erected in honour of those who lost their lives and loved ones during the Great Irish Famine (1845-1852) and those who made it to Canada.

I like to visit these statues every so often, 'to check in' if you will, keep a track on how earthened I am.

Once when I went to Toronto and saw their sister statues and was blown away by the stats..... In 1847 Toronto had a population of 20,000. Within 3 months 60,000 Irish arrived on their shores aboard boats in search of a new start - but first food, medicines and shelter! Pandemonium!!
