A time for everything

Wednesday
We're enjoying beautiful weather this week after an eventful Sunday afternoon, when the remnants of Hurricane "Ike" roared through with sustained winds of 35-50 mph and wind gusts of up to 75 mph, downing trees and electric cables and leaving over 90% of the city without power. A couple of people were killed by trees falling on their homes, and another young lady died in a house fire, likely caused by candles they were using for light. We were fortunate and got our power back about 10.30 Monday morning. They were reckoning to get 85% back on by this evening, but for some people it may be the weekend before they have power. It makes you realize how much we take for granted - you feel helpless without power - no lights, no TV, no computers, no fridge, stove, washer, dryer, etc. Also no air-conditioning, but fortunately there was cooler weather behind the system, so that wasnt a problem.
I went for a walk this morning around Glenwood gardens, where the bees and the butterflies were busy among the flowers.
